Darkwing Duck Kickstarter Brings Beloved Comics to Fans!
Multiple Eras, Stories & Creators
Remastered & Compiled in Multiple Formats

June 4, Mt. Laurel, NJ:
Disney's crime-fighting fowl swoops in for the first ever Darkwing Duck Kickstarter, as Dynamite Entertainment and Disney continue their ongoing partnership in comic books and collectibles. Fans have the chance to pledge their support and reserve their copies for three different volumes collecting Darkwing tales from multiple eras, including long-out-of-print classics and the latest blockbuster stories from Dynamite's tenure. The Kickstarter is live now!

This campaign follows a massively popular effort for Disney's Gargoyles franchise, which brought in over 6,000 supporters, resulting in one of the 10 biggest comics projects in the platform's history, including third for all-time graphic novels and first for reprint graphic novels.

The Dynamite era of Disney comics kicked off in December 2022 with Gargoyles, but it was closely followed by a smash hit Darkwing Duck series by writer Amanda Deibert and artist Carlo Cid Lauro. A collection of that completed full series is represented as one of the volumes in this Kickstarter, on its own or accompanied by the other volumes for a deluxe Darkwing comics library. Across 10 bestselling issues, Deibert and Lauro reintroduced readers to a unique and cherished character in the Disney pantheon. Critics lauded the title for beautifully realizing the world of St. Canard and the characters of Drake Mallard and the whole cast, which captured the spirit of the original cartoon while feeling fresh and modern.

Another volume presented in this Kickstarter is christened the "Heroes & Villains" tome. It brings together the two exciting follow ups and spinoffs to the groundwork laid by Deibert in the flagship series. In Justice Ducks, artist Carlo Lauro returns and is joined by writer Roger Langridge, known for his critically acclaimed work on all-ages works like The Muppets, Popeye and Thor: The Mighty Avenger. The story continues on from threads of the launch series, marking it as more of a direct sequel than a tangent, as Darkwing leads a team of duck defenders comprised of Stegmutt, Gizmoduck, Neptunia, Morgana, and assists from his own adopted daughter Gosalyn. This haphazard team-up's adventures are chronicles across five issues, all included here.

Then in Negaduck, the hero of St. Canard's archnemesis spreads his villainous wings in his own first-ever series of eight issues. Beloved writer Jeff Parker has tackled so many top titles like Aquaman, Thunderbolts, Hulk, Batman '66, Flash Gordon, and now brings that expertise to the Disney ducks mythos. He's matched up with artist Ciro Cangialosi, who fans first saw illustrating many of the action figure themed covers for Darkwing Duck, including Negaduck's from issue #6.

The third volume is packed full of goodies that no Darkwing diehard can do without! It's a thrilling tour of the comics history of Drake Mallard. It kicks off with the hero's first-ever comics appearance, the four-issue series from 1991 originally released by the Disney Comics line. Also included from this earlier era are stories from the Disney Afternoon magazine originally published by Marvel.

Across these three volumes, contributing writers and artists include Tad Stones, Amanda Deibert, John Blair Moore, Jeff Parker, Roger Langridge, Carlo Cid Lauro, Ciro Cangialosi, David Nakayama, Mirka Andolfo, Trish Forstner, and more.

The books are all available in multiple versions to fit every fan's desires and budget. There are paperback and hardcover editions of all three collections, and there are hardcovers available signed by Tad Stones, Amanda Deibert, and others, as well as hardcovers with original remarqued sketches by artist Ken Haeser that are limited to just 500 copies each.

Every backer who joins the campaign in the first 48 hours will also receive a limited edition Darkwing Duck mini-print!

In addition to the books in the middle of the spotlight, backers can add collectible comic books from Dynamite's Darkwing Duck series, limited edition facsimiles of the 1991 first issue with gold and purple foil, deluxe lithograph and giclée prints of artwork, and commissioned original artwork from superstars Jae Lee and Ken Haeser.

This Kickstarter will only run for a limited time, so fans are encouraged to lock in their support so they don't miss out!
