Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce that Crackdown, the Xbox-exclusive open world action-adventure game by Microsoft Studios, will be brought to comics in an all-new comic book series. Written by Shane McCarthy ( Transformers: All Hail Megatron, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight), the comic book will delve into the catastrophic global events that set the plot in motion for Crackdown 3, while expanding the universe of Crackdown far beyond the boundaries of the already-expansive game environment. In Crackdown 3, releasing November 7 as an Xbox One exclusive, a series of devastating blackout attacks have taken the world and The Agency by surprise. From out of nowhere, a new enemy has targeted major metropolitan areas with a never-before-seen form of elemental warfare, plunging vast swaths of society into darkness and chaos. In the aftermath, the Agency has picked up a hot lead - and now they'll stop at nothing to find the ones who knocked the world down, to deliver a harsh dose of Justice…by any means necessary. The first issue of the Crackdown comic will release November 8, 2017 and is available for free to all that purchase a copy of Crackdown 3. Shane McCarthy says, "I'm really excited to be a part of bringing the Crackdown comic to life. I'm a big fan of the games and have been from the first one! What I'm most excited about is exploring the Crackdown universe further and taking a longer look at what it's like to be a part of it. It's going to be a lot of fun seeing what makes these Agents tick as they punch their way to a better world!" Writer Shane McCarthy currently resides in Perth, Western Australia. A freelance writer whose work has been published internationally by DC Comics, Marvel Comics, IDW, and more, he has written Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, Detective Comics, Dark X-Men, Daredevil, Star Wars, and Transformers: All Hail Megatron. "Working with Microsoft and learning about the larger world that's below ‘the page' in the game has been a fascinating and exciting process, and the creative energy that's come from working with Shane on expanding that world not on the screen has been truly exciting. I really feel like we're presenting a worthy companion to the game," says Matt Idelson, Senior Editor. "We're very excited to be working with Microsoft and the Beanstalk licensing team on another fantastic title with Crackdown, in addition to Killer Instinct," says Rich Young, Director of Business Development at Dynamite. "The previous Crackdown games were visually stunning and super-fun to play, and it's looking like Crackdown 3 is going to set the bar even higher. And the fact that Crackdown 3 will launch with the newly announced Xbox One X only adds to the excitement. The comics will play a crucial role in helping further develop on Crackdown 3's storyline." "We are thrilled to be working with Dynamite on Crackdown 3, and are grateful to Beanstalk's Tinderbox division, our licensing agency, for matching us up," says Torrie Dorrell, who oversees Consumer Products for Crackdown 3 under Microsoft Studios. "We love to immerse our players more deeply into our game worlds, and the comic series will give Crackdown fans more story!" Dynamite Entertainment's profile in the video game industry continues to grow. In 2016, the publisher launched a library of Atari-based comic books and graphic novels, including the best-selling Art of Atari hardcover retrospective, the Art of Atari Poster Collection, Atari Classics: Swordquest, and new Swordquest and Centipede series. Since April, they announced new projects in development that include Undisputed Street Fighter™: The Art and Innovation Behind the Game-Changing Series, and Killer Instinct and Fruit Ninja comic book series. Additional Dynamite video game projects have included Animal Jam, Doodle Jump, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and Path of Exile. Crackdown will be solicited in an upcoming edition of the Diamond Comic Distributors' Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market. Crackdown will also be available for purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, iVerse, Madefire, and Dark Horse Digital. The living dead are ready to make a big return next year. Living Dead Media has revealed that a new Return of the Living Dead film is due in 2025, a year that marks the milestone 40th anniversary of the 1985 horror cult classic. In doing so, the company and its CEO Steve Wolsh have confirmed details about the project and teased it with a holiday-themed trailer. The clip (below), which dropped today, not coincidentally on Friday the 13th, features the franchise’s spooky Tarman emerging in a snow-covered cemetery dragging a Christmas tree across the landscape as a rendition of “Silent Night” helps set the mood. The teaser does its job by announcing a Christmas 2025 planned release. Per a press release obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Living Dead Media confirms that the project won’t be a reboot of the original but a new installment in the beloved horror-comedy franchise. It’s set in a small Pennsylvania town in Christmas 1985, 18 months after the events of the original film, which was directed by Dan O’Bannon. That film followed the unfortunate events that ensued after two bumbling employees at the Uneeda Medical Supply warehouse accidentally released a deadly gas into the air, which led the dead to rise as zombies, infecting the entire town and inadvertently sealing its fate. In Blood Hunt, Doctor Doom outplayed Doctor Strange and stole the title of Sorcerer Supreme! As Doom uses his new mystical might to take over the entire Marvel Universe in ONE WORLD UNDER DOOM, what will become of Strange? His fate is revealed this March in DOCTOR STRANGE OF ASGARD! The new ongoing series from writer Derek Landy (Captain America/Iron Man) and artist Carlos Magno (Captain America) takes Strange in a fantastical and ambitious new direction as he seeks to regain his glory and strength by becoming the first-ever Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard! But Asgardian magic is more ancient and guarded than Midgard’s, and Strange’s bold attempts to master it will ignite a deadly power struggle between the sorcerers of the Golden Realm—including Loki. Join Strange as he races to solve a mystery that could disrupt the balance of magic forever, avoiding Thor’s thunderous wrath and uncovering long-hidden secrets of Asgardian myth along the way! SORCERER SUPREME NO MORE! Doctor Doom tricked Doctor Strange into surrendering the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Now Doom is ruling the world, and Stephen Strange is…experiencing a bit of an identity crisis. Searching for purpose – and maybe revenge – he travels to Asgard to see if Thor’s kingdom might be looking for a Sorcerer Supreme of its own. Loki’s willing to help, but that help comes with a wicked catch, and Strange quickly realizes that becoming Asgard’s top magical authority is going to be more complicated than he thought. “It's been a daunting prospect, taking the reins of Doctor Strange and leading him into a new era,” Landy shared. “To follow on from the last few years of stories, which have seen huge creative leaps from astonishing creative teams, would have been a terrifying prospect were it not for Editor Alanna Smith's primary instruction: move him to Asgard. Suddenly we're in new territory, where not only does Strange have to deal with Asgardian society on a street level, but he's also caught up in a murder mystery that he really doesn't have time for.” "When I was asked to draw DOCTOR STRANGE OF ASGARD, I imagined the reader seeing the sorcerer immersed in the brilliant and magical splendor of Asgard with its colossal statues and fantastic architecture,” Magno explained. “This time, to our pleasant surprise, Derek Landy and I are going to throw the reader into the dark side of the God of Thunder's homeland--showing it in a realistic way including its less glamorous side and depicting the dark, scary and snowy alleys and the evil that lurks in the shadows. Here, Doctor Strange takes us into the heart of evil, where his enormous power seems to have little effect on an Asgard the reader has never seen before. It’s a reflection of the world we live in today." “Doing this is STILL a terrifying prospect, don't get me wrong, but at least I have Carlos and Espen [Grundetjern] on my team, making me look like I know what I'm doing. So that helps,” Landy added. Check out Geoff Shaw’s cover and stay tuned for more DOCTOR STRANGE OF ASGARD news in the weeks ahead. ...

Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce the new phase in the legendary Christopher Priest's take on Vampirella, with a new series and perfect jumping-on point coming this March. Priest is joined by and reunited with the artist who started his run, Turkish virtuoso Ergün Gündüz.
The new story, "The Long Night" will introduce fans to parallel perspectives of the Daughter of Drakulon in the present dealing with a severe case of postpartum depression, even while finally reunited with her previously stolen infant son — and on the other hand a vision into a possible cataclysmic, cyberpunk future brought on by a bitter Vampi's nuclear holocaust!
Attentive fans may recall mentions of "The Long Night" in previous issues of Priest's run as a prophetic nightmare mentioned by Vampirella herself and other characters. It is akin to a "vampire Ragnarök" end of days, said to be brought on by a child of Lilith. When the demon Belial uttered it upon the birth of Draculina, the assumption was that it would be the fate of Vampi's raven-haired, oft-evil sister — and not in fact herself. Priest's other working title for this storyline was "Season of the Witch," referencing the titular antiheroine's spiral into darkness and transformation into the Witch of Ashthorne. It all kicks into action in March's Vampirella #1 — while keeping a dual "legacy numbering" along the march to #700, marking this issue also as #676 — as a mysterious man going by the name of Cicero appears in Vampirella's life, claiming to be her son from the future. As a timeless vampiress, the Daughter of Drakulon's life extends well past her 50-plus years of publication going back to 1969, yet she still appears young and vibrant. The same logic carries on to her son, with the twist that he's come back from a time of her 100th anniversary!
"I think the best kinds of challenges you can toss at a protagonist are the ones they cannot punch through. There’s way too much boring violence being used to resolve conflict in today’s comics," said Christopher Priest. "Good writing involves conflict but conflict isn’t always about violence. You put your character in a headlock, in a no-win scenario, ideally in a mess of their own making, and then follow them as they resolve that conflict through their strength of character. Vampirella’s present situation, her being suddenly confounded by the unimaginable impact of motherhood, is the direct cause and effect of the future story and the reason her son, an adult many decades in the future, has returned to warn her."
Fans are invited to hop into this new series and celebrate this peek into Vampirella's deep psyche as well as a dark future. The critically acclaimed team of Priest and Gündüz are back once more, joined with head-turning covers from the likes of Lucio Parrillo, Greg Land, Elias Chatzoudis, Jay Anacleto, and cosplayer Rachel Hollon. Rising superstar Mark Spears, beloved for his Monsters series, also contributes covers. VAMPIRELLA #1 is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ January 2025 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in March 2025. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more! Literary juggernaut Pierce Brown's epic prequels to his bestselling science fiction series Red Rising are being collected in one stunning omnibus edition. This celebrated graphic novel series was written by Brown and Rik Hoskin (Brandon Sanderson’s White Sand) with art by Eli Powell (The 13th Artifact) and Kewber Baal (Vengeance of Vampirella), expanding on a fan-favorite universe that has been growing steadily for the last decade.
Brown crafted this prequel to the beloved Red Rising novels to expand the universe for his existing fans while creating an entry point for new readers in an exciting medium. Red Rising: Sons of Ares tells of a future where humanity has spread across the stars, and a person’s fate is dictated by the color of one’s caste. The Golds rule all – but what happens when one of these elites dares to love a lowly Red? A forbidden romance transforms the future, with alliances shifting against a backdrop of revolution, all leading to the formation of the formidable Sons of Ares and a reshaping of the world of the Rising that is to come!
When the series kicked off, Brown said, "It's a dream come true to bring the world of Red Rising to comics, and a real pleasure Jedi mind-melding with Rik in the writing process."
While Hoskin said, "Sons of Ares is a new story set within the brutal world of Pierce Brown's Red Rising books. I've worked closely with Pierce to create something that's true to those books, but also feels unique and new. Like the books, ours is a fast-moving story set right across the vast canvas of the freshly colonized solar system. We're exploring the effects that the inflexible regime has on an individual who's a key figure from the books, looking at the limits of humanity in a dehumanizing system. For me, that's the key to the books — the very human characters striving against a system geared to beating them down. It's harsh, cruel, unfair and — occasionally — uplifting."
The 432-page omnibus is available in both hardcover and paperback editions, and collects Books One, Two, and Three of the acclaimed graphic novel series, along with character and environmental design, and a complete cover gallery! It also has a stunningly gorgeous cover by artist Toby Cypress. Pierce's Brown's RED RISING: SONS OF ARES OMNIBUS is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ January 2025 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in March 2025. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the book with their local comic book retailers. The maniacal Martians of the cult classic Mars Attacks! brought the fight to the She-Devil With a Sword before, but now in a new series coming this March, Red Sonja Attacks Mars! Dynamite announces epic crossover full of action and laughs from perfect fit writer Jay Stephens (Dwellings).
Sonja is serving out a life-debt when she discovers a sinister prophecy of cosmic foulness from beyond the stars. To stop the imminent destruction of the whole world and her beloved Hyrkania, she must trek from the deserts in the south all the way to the northern shores of the Vilayet Sea. There she will go toe to toe with the big-headed insidious invaders back once more from Mars. Along the way she will face trials too, serpent-men, metamorlocks, and ancient monster-gods in her path.
Horror and humor master Jay Stephens, beloved for his genius series Dwellings and contributions to new titles like Tales from the Abyss, writes this new series and is joined by returning artist Fran Strukan. The cross-genre flavors of retro science fiction, sword and sorcery action, and dark comedy are all whipped up into a special Neapolitan twist of entertaining comics brilliance that will have readers crying "ACK ACK!" for more!
"I’m having such a blast! It feels like you could see me drooling over my Norman Saunders (the original Mars Attacks! card creator) art book, which I do more often than would be considered sane," said writer Jay Stephens. "Campy, horrifying, mid-century, and notorious does seem to be my vibe. I’m always striving for that reimagined nostalgia… a sort of irreverent reverence for the things that haunted me as a kid."
This interplanetary event for the ages is complemented by brain-bending covers from superstars Joseph Michael Linsner, Jae Lee, and Greg Land.
As a tribute to the classic trading card roots of Mars Attacks!, each cardstock variant cover of the first issue will additionally be polybagged with exclusive collectible cards featuring the piece from the respective artists, free of trade dress. RED SONJA ATTACKS MARS #1 is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ January 2025 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in March 2025.
