Casting rumors for Rapunzel and Mother Gothel are heating up for the Disney live-action remake of Tangled. In December 2024, it was reported that Disney was working on a live-action adaptation of Tangled, with The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey set to helm the project. The film will reimagine the 2010 animated classic, and all eyes now shift to who will play the next Disney princess in live-action. In January, industry insider Daniel Richtman shared that Disney is eyeing star Florence Pugh to play Rapunzel. In addition to the Rapunzel casting rumors, Richtman stated that Kathryn Hahn is Disney's choice to play Mother Gothel in live-action. Casting for the roles has not yet been announced. (The Direct)

Several MCU movies have already started to come into view for a potential Phase 7 release. As of this writing, the last officially dated MCU movie with a title on the Marvel Studios slate is Avengers: Secret Wars (coming May 7, 2027); however, that does not mean the franchise will come to an end with the upcoming Multiversal mega-blockbuster. With several projects floating in the ether at Marvel Studios, a few names have started to bubble to the surface as potential Phase 7 titles, coming after Secret Wars' 2027 release date. The best bets for four films that will occupy what will become Phase 7 are: The long-awaited BLADE movie; BLACK PANTHER 3; Marvel Studios' first full-scale X-MEN movie; and the anticipated SHANG-CHI 2. Oni Press is proud to unveil the first look inside THE GODDAMN TRAGEDY #1 – a vicious and vengeful account of one of the Old West’s darkest episodes from its last and only survivor! From writer Chris Condon (Ultimate Wolverine, Green Arrow) and fast-rising artoShawn Kuruneru (Fishflies, Cave Grave), THE GODDAMN TRAGEDY #1 is a gripping and entirely self-contained, fully painted, 48-page graphic novella coming to comic shops everywhere on May 28th, 2025! Ellen Janson is here to set the record straight about the highly publicized, oft-sensationalized journey her family undertook in 1846. Ellen sets out with her mother, Irena, and her father, Leo, on the treacherous road west in search of a better life. But when her father chooses to split off from the party, taking an untested shortcut through the mountains, can their small family survive the elements, the wildlife—and each other? Or will their journey become nothing more than another goddamn tragedy? “I love the Western environment,” Kuruneru said. “I’m drawn to the simplicity of the genre. I like starting with something simple, and then making it complex through character development and atmosphere. There’s more in the Western genre that I want to explore.” “I think it’s a fascinating time period that is ripe for dramatic storytelling,” Condon added. “It’s people at odds with their own world. Nothing is safe. It makes for a great tale!” This doomed and disorienting vision of one family’s twisted descent into madness features covers from interior artist Shawn Kuruneru, as well as illustrators Tula Lotay (Somna), Jacob Phillips (That Texas Blood), Jenna Cha (The Sickness) and Oliver Dominguez (Out of Alcatraz). Pray for mercy when THE GODDAMN TRAGEDY #1 comes down from the mountaintops on May 28th! Fan-favorite creators Patrick Kindlon (Frontiersman), Marco Ferrari (Scarlett), and artist Maurizio Rosenzweig (Dylan Dog) will bring readers nonstop action in the upcoming Gehenna: Naked Aggression. This four-issue miniseries first appeared serialized in black and white in the Image! anthology and will be brought to life this June—with full color and additional new material—from Image Comics.
There’s a contract out on Gehenna. But she’s managed to stay alive long enough that the contract has been resold several times as consolidated debt between criminal organizations. Now she intends to put a stop to the chain of custody on that contract. With a bullet. Readers won't want to miss this edge-of-seat storytelling inspired by Gun Honey and Elektra: Assassin.
"The goal from page one was to create a ride," said Kindlon. "Link set-pieces into each other until we had a story that was all GO. And we did it. The most fun you'll have with a comic book all year."
Ferrari added: "The Frontiersman Universe is back, bigger and bolder than ever with new characters, old friends and an adrenaline-fueled story that will keep you turning pages at breakneck speed."
"For me, Gehenna is my Jackie Brown," said Rosenzweig.
Gehenna: Naked Aggression #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 11: Cover A by Rosenzweig - Lunar Code 0425IM289 Cover B by Anand Ramcheron - Lunar Code 0425IM290 Cover C by Atsuji Yamamoto - Lunar Code 0425IM291 Cover D by Maria Llovet (polybagged) - Lunar Code 0425IM292 Cover E (1:25) by Matteo Scalera - Lunar Code 0425IM293 Gehenna: Naked Aggression will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play. Even though his time as Aquaman is done, Jason Momoa is still in the DC family and is currently filming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow over in England opposite of Milly Alcock. Momoa appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Show earlier this week to promote his upcoming Minecraft movie where he stars with Jack Black. And While he didn’t say much other than confirming that he will be Lobo, during another interview with CinemaBlend where he was accompanied by Black, Momoa almost showed the interviewer an image of him in the Lobo make-up until his publicist intervened. Also Black was trying to angle for a cameo in the film. Well, head of DC Studios James Gunn saw the interview and posted “I just want to profoundly thank Jason Momoa’s publicist… and Jack Black, anytime.” Gunn may need to borrow some of Kevin Feige’s snipers from Marvel.
